Help Support Roberta

This blog will be a public bulletin board to coordinate the festivities during the time Roberta is here for her 60-mile Breast Cancer Walk.

If you're one of her cheerleaders, please leave a comment on the corresponding posts to indicate if you're planning on attending that day's events so that we can look for you.

IMPORTANT!! If you'll have a car and are willing to play taxi to out-of-town cheerleaders, leave that in your comment as well.

Please join us on Facebook, if you're a member.

Spectator Info is here.

Sightseeing on THURS 10/1

Anyone who wants to join Roberta and me sightseeing on TH 10/2, lemme know. I can take 2 more in my car.

We will end the day at the Ferry Building (probably at Market Bar) with cocktails at Market Bar starting around 4pm. Just look for the Flat Cats. Hopefully, some of you can join us.

Opening Ceremonies

Please leave a comment if you plan to cheer at the opening ceremony so we can find you.

Opening Ceremony

The Breast Cancer 3-Day begins early Friday morning with the Opening Ceremony. There will be a group stretch to warm-up the body, and inspirational speakers who will warm-up the spirit - all leading up to an exciting and emotional send-off!

This celebration is not just for participants. Friends and family are highly encouraged to attend, though please note that seating will not be available, so if you are unable to stand for 30-60 minutes, you may want to bring a folding chair. Please allow extra travel time due to expected traffic congestion at the site.

After the Opening Ceremony is over, participants will begin walking the 60-mile route and start a journey of a lifetime. It will be even more special if you are there to help send them off with smiles and encouragement. We'll also have a Breast Cancer 3-Day gear store on site if you'd like to purchase a souvenir for yourself or your participant.

Cheering Stations FRI 10/2

If you plan on joining Roberta's cheerleaders on Friday, please leave a comment so we can coordinate on how to find each other. I'll be adding a map this week.

Cheering Stations

Public cheering stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise - anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.

Sunday Night Dinner

Halloween' mom Marianne has graciously invited everyone (including significant others) to dinner in her San Francisco home on Sunday night, 4 OCT.

If you've already RSVP'd to me, great. If not, and you'd like to attend, leave a comment. Also include any dietary restrictions.

Since I don't want to publish Marianne's address on the internet, you'll need to RSVP to know where to go.

If you have a car available to give rides to the out-of-towners, leave that in your comment as well.

IMPORTANT!!! I really want to help get everyone transported from Marina Green to Marianne's house, but I have no idea who needs a ride other than Judi. Please leave a comment if you need a ride, or if you have room in your car to transport people (including Roberta).

So far, I have RSVPs from:
  • Roberta
  • Tracy
  • Sue Bailey

  • Susie, Kiera and Daddykitty McGavin
  • Judi B (Guido's mom)
